Last year’s Fajr Film Festival-screened productions ‘Israfil’ and ‘No Date, No Signature’ hit the silver screen at theaters in Iran.

Last year’s Fajr Film Festival-screened productions ‘Israfil’ and ‘No Date, No Signature’ hit the silver screen at theaters in Iran.

Cinemas in the Iranian capital city of Tehran this week started showing last year’s Fajr-screened films, Ida Panahandeh’s ‘Israfil’ and Vahid Jalilvand’s ‘No Date, No Signature’.

The screenings come after a successful run of the 10-day Fajr Film Festival this year.

As Jalilvand’s second feature film, ‘No Date, No Signature’ premiered last February at the 35th Fajr Film Festival and won three awards including best supporting actor for Navid Mohammadzadeh and best directing for Jalilvand.

The story is about a respected forensic pathologist getting involved in a car accident, where an 8-year-old boy is injured.

The next morning, the boy’s dead body is brought for an autopsy in the hospital where the pathologist works. Although the results of the first diagnosis indicate food poisoning, the doctor believes he is responsible for the boy’s death.

The 104-minute film stars Hediyeh Tehrani, Amir Aqaee, Saeed Dakh, Alireza Ostadi and Navid Mohammadzadeh.

Meanwhile, the much applauded film by Panahandeh, ‘Israfil’, hit screens across the country on Wednesday.

‘Israfil’ is the second feature film by Panahandeh. The drama deals with human challenges and needs. The story is about Mahi, a widow mourning the death of her only son.

The flick features Pejman Bazeghi, Hediyeh Tehrani, Merila Zarei and Hoda Zeinolabedin.

The film garnered a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role Crystal Simorgh to Hediyeh Tehrani during last year’s Fajr festival.
